LEXINGTON, OH (Monday, June 10, 2024) – Team TGM has continued its barnstorming start to the 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge championship, with both of the team’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4 squads again standing on the podium yesterday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

After four rounds of the 2024 championship, TGM holds the overall points lead and tops the tables in the bronze championship.
Championship leader Matt Plumb finished second in Sunday’s four-hour event with teammate Paul Holton. Plumb has now finished third, fourth, sixth and yesterday’s second in the races contested to date.
Ted Giovanis and regular teammate Hugh Plumb were again joined by Kris Wilson Sunday and came away with another Bronze class championship victory.
Sunday’s results were not without drama, but the team departs Mid-Ohio with even bigger leads in both championships.

“The challenges started before the green flag when I suffered a tire puncture on the pace lap,” said team owner/driver Ted Giovanis.
“Not the start we were looking for, however, we soldiered on as we knew it was a long race and a lot can happen in four hours. We were ultimately able to work our way into 16th overall place at the checkered.
“Hugh and I have taken another big leap in the Bronze Cup championship and have a comfortable lead going into Watkins Glen in a couple of weeks.

“The No. 46 had an excellent start and stayed in the top 10, mostly top 5, almost all race. They were steady and didn’t miss a beat.
“Fuel strategy came into play in the final stint, with another team being able to stretch fuel much further than everyone else and took the win. We cannot be anything but happy with the P2 finish for Matt and Paul and most importantly, extending the driver and team points championship.”
Next up for Team TGM is round five of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge championship at Watkins Glen International, June 20-23.

Ted Giovanis - “What a great day for TGM, we got P2 and extended our lead in the championship with the 46 car. In the 64 car, Hugh did a great job, and so did Kris. Kris did yeoman’s work on the double stint, and so did Hugh. All in all, it was a good day for us – no rain and everything worked out for us.”
Hugh Plumb - “A great race for all of TGM today. I can’t express how excited I am for this whole team. This has been a long time coming. These guys, like any other team, work so hard, but our luck has not been great. The talent is there, it just hasn’t come together. Our goal this year was to win this class in the Bronze in the 64 and overall in the 46 car. We are all coming together, and things couldn’t be better.”

Kris Wilson - “Thanks to Ted and Kristina for having me with the team again for Mid Ohio. They are a great group and I appreciate the opportunity. We were excited to get our Bronze Cup trophy at Mid-Ohio for the 4-hour race. There was a little adversity, but our other team car, the No. 46 car, is P2. The winning car did an exceptional job of saving fuel, but it was a really good day for Team TGM.”
Matt Plumb - “Always happy with points and podium finishes. We were really rooting for a win. We’ve done everything we need to do, including testing, and here on the race weekend to get the win. The strategy was great, Paul did an amazing job. Joe (Varde), Ed (Senf), and John (Terry) on the pit box called all the strategy perfect. We just got caught out by one car that did things a little bit differently and it worked on fuel strategy.”
Paul Holton - “It was a good race at Mid Ohio, where we finished P2. We had a conventional strategy, and the guy who won did a great job today on fuel save. Matt drove an incredible last stint. The Michelin tires were great, and the Team TGM guys did an epic job. We jumped guys in pit lane all day, and the strategy was on point. This has been a fantastic day; we just need one more spot next time.”
