BRASELTON, GA (Tuesday, October 8, 2024): It is down to the final round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge for Team TGM, and both the driver and team championships are on the line.

Holding the lead in the championships most of the year, the No 46 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 must finish sixth or better to clinch the titles – the driver’s crown for Matt Plumb and a team championship for Team TGM.

Racing in October is significant for Team TGM as not only is the final race of the season scheduled at this time, but it is also breast cancer awareness month.

Everyone with Team TGM is keen to highlight the life-saving research being done with the support of the Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis Foundation for Health and Policy. The foundation works with researchers across the country to find out how cancer metastasizes which will lead to better treatments for women with breast cancer.

“We know that every two minutes, someone is diagnosed with breast cancer. We are working with top researchers in the US to combat the disease and increase the survival rates,” said Ted Giovanis, team owner and driver of the Team TGM No 64 Aston Martin GT4 Vantage.

On track, the team is laser-focused on the job at hand. With the #DrivingResearch campaign continuing, the team brings a 110-point lead into this final round of the season; however, mathematically, there are two other competitors who can steal the title away with a twist of fate.

“It’s pivotal that we have a clean, safe race,” said Giovanis.

“The No 64 has already accomplished one of our three goals of the year, clinching the Bronze Cup championship at the Road America race. However, we’ve always had our eyes on winning all three available championships this year.”

The race weekend will kick off with practice tomorrow, Wednesday, October 9 at 12:45 pm.

Ted Giovanis - "After a long season, we’re close to achieving our goals. This is our home track, just a mile from Road Atlanta, but races here can be unpredictable. In October, we focus on breast cancer awareness, supporting research through #DrivingResearch and the JKTG Foundation, and promoting early detection."

Hugh Plumb - "Road Atlanta is an amazing track, and it all comes down to this final round. TGM is ready to give it everything with a championship in reach. I’m proud of the team and grateful to the Giovanis family. With #DrivingResearch on the car for breast cancer awareness, we’re racing for more than just results!"

Matt Plumb - "It’s the final stretch, and Paul and I are ready to deliver after the team’s hard work all year. A podium finish is our goal, though we’d love a win at our home track. October’s focus on breast cancer awareness makes it special to race with #DrivingResearch, supporting Ted’s foundation and its life-saving work."

Paul Holton - "Road Atlanta is one of the best tracks, and I’m excited to race here. Thanks to Ted, Kristina, Hugh, and the entire TGM crew for an incredible season. With a slight championship lead, it’s all on the line this weekend, and Team TGM is ready for the challenge!"

LIFE LESSONS FROM RACING

FOCUS FORWARD

Life comes at you fast when you’re traveling 180 miles per hour. For Ted Giovanis, it’s also where you can learn the most valuable lessons. Since becoming a race car driver three decades ago at age forty-six—a ride that is still in overdrive—Giovanis has discovered how the tools of racing and the teamwork within it are applicable to life and business. In forty-eight motivating and, at times, exhilarating chapters, he shares his experience and knowledge.
