DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Thursday, January 25, 2024) – After showing an impressive turn of speed at the Roar before the 24 test, Team TGM continued that form in qualifying today at Daytona with Owen Trinkler putting the No 46 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 second on the grid for tomorrow’s opening round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
Trinkler, who will pair with Matt Plumb this year, wasted no time pushing the Aston Martin to its limits in today’s 15-minute qualifying session posting the second fastest lap time of 1:53.646.
Tomorrow’s four-hour race will be one of two endurance races on the 2024 schedule.

“The plan was to put in one warm up and two fast laps. After posting my fastest lap, I pulled into pit lane and waited out the remainder of the session,” said Trinkler.
“I wasn’t sure the time would hold up but with every car that crossed the finish line we all collectively exhaled a bit more.
“I’m so happy for our crew, they have worked so hard for this result (P2 in qualifying). They put in a lot of work this past weekend and showed up today in qualifying. I think we have a really good car for the race.
“I’ll start and Matt will finish up. We’re ready for this 4-hour race and aiming to be on the podium.”

While team owner/driver Ted Giovanis will start the race further back in the pack in the No 64 car, he already celebrated this weekend being honored with induction into the Road Racer Driving Club on Wednesday night.
Giovanis has been racing sports cars at both the amateur and professional level for over 30 years and was excited at the announcement.
“The list of members in the RRDC is very impressive,” Giovanis said.
“It includes those who have made the most significant impact on motorsports over the past 50+ years and I am honored to be among them.”
The BMW M Endurance Challenge for the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge will take the green flag at 1:45pm, Friday, January 26 and will be live streamed on Peacock TV.
