ELKHART LAKE, WI (Saturday, August 3, 2024) – At the checkered flag in today’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Road America 120 the Team TGM No. 64 Aston Martin Vantage clinched the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Bronze Cup Championship with drivers Ted Giovanis and Hugh Plumb.

Taking another Bronze Cup win at Road America, Giovanis and Plumb notched their fourth of the season with three more races remaining, including Ted’s home track, VIR. The Bronze Cup win today secures the season long championship for the pair.
The No. 46 car piloted by overall championship points leader Matt Plumb and co-driver Paul Holton came into the weekend with a sizable cushion which they needed as the duo struggled with outright speed at Road America. This left them at a disadvantage throughout the latter part of the race and ultimately finishing in 11th position.
“We have some lofty goals for this season and we’re getting there step by step. Winning the Bronze Cup Championship is ticking off the first box. It was a tough day for the 46 car but they are still holding the lead in the overall and team championships so we come away from Road America with a lot of positive momentum,” said team owner Ted Giovanis.
Matt Plumb still holds the championship lead going into the next race at VIRginia International Raceway August 23-25.

Ted Giovanis - “The No 64 Aston Martin was running well today. It was a little tight right at the beginning but we worked that out. The crew did a great job on the pit stop and so all in all it was a good day for TGM. Hats off to the crew. We’re excited about winning the Bronze Cup and it’s great to have wrapped up that championship.”
Hugh Plumb - “Securing any championship is such a feat and team effort! Ted Giovanis did an amazing job today. We still have a couple of races to go but I think we’ve done the deal in securing the championship, which is cool. These things aren’t easy and my hats off to Ted and the crew guys for working hard. He had a great race, brought the car to me in good shape. It was hot, really hot but it was a good day. TGM battled hard and we did what we needed to do. Thanks to Ted and Kristina Giovanis as always.”

Matt Plumb - “It was an 11th place finish for the 46 car, not our greatest run to date. We’ll sort it out and figure out what went wrong and come back stronger. Congrats to the 64 car. Once again our crew did an amazing job. We had a number of issues that they sorted out throughout the course of the weekend to basically lock up the 64’s championship, to allow them to win the Bronze Cup championship. Hats off to them. We will keep digging, keep fighting, we are still in the lead in the points but still a lot of racing left to go.”
Paul Holton - “It was a good day for the team TGM crew, the 64 car locked up the Bronze Cup Championship – congrats to them. For the 46 we definitely had a bit of a trying time today. We had an issue in the pitstop when the driver door came off. which was interesting as I got out of the car to see it fall on the ground but the crew did an incredible job to get the door back on and pivot. We didn’t really lose too much time but we struggled in traffic today and once we fell back those positions, it was difficult to move forward and 11th place was the best we could manage. We knew this was not our strongest track, so we come out with some points and we head on to VIR.”
