BRASELTON, GA (Friday, October 11, 2024) – Mission accomplished! Team TGM has clinched all three IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge titles for the GS class – driver’s championship, bronze championship, and team’s championship!

Starting on the pole for the Fox Factory 120 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Paul Holton and Matt Plumb held onto a second-place finish in the No 46 #DrivingResearch Aston Martin Vantage GT4 to clinch the team championship for Team TGM and the driver’s championship for Matt Plumb.

These two championships follow on from the Bronze title earned earlier this season by Ted Giovanis and Hugh Plumb.

Paul Holton and Matt Plumb held onto a second-place finish in the No 46 #DrivingResearch Aston Martin Vantage GT4 to clinch the team championship for Team TGM and the driver’s championship for Matt Plumb.

In today’s season finale for the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge 2024 season, Plumb and Holton had to finish 6th place or better and instead enjoyed a podium finish to seal the two championships.  Plumb would win the championship by 180 points and although missing the first race of the season at Daytona, Holton finished the season in third place in the driver’s championship.

The caution-filled race was full of excitement. However, Holton and Plumb held onto the top three positions all day on Team TGM’s home track in Braselton, GA – a short distance from where their race shop is located.

The No 64 Aston Martin also had a very strong run, finishing in 12th place overall and securing another Bronze Cup win in today’s race. Giovanis and Plumb have dominated the Bronze Cup category, winning six of the ten races in the season.

“It’s rare that you set your sights so high at the beginning of the season and complete those lofty goals. However, this team had one of those unforgettable years,” said team owner and driver Ted Giovanis.

“In addition to grabbing all three championships for the team, we also helped deliver the manufacturer’s championship to Aston Martin.

“While we celebrate this achievement as a team, we also continue to focus on the #DrivingResearch campaign, especially in this Breast Cancer Awareness month. The research being done is so important and continues to move the needle toward ultimately finding a cure.

“Although we’ve been fighting all year to secure these championships, it was especially nice to be able to do it on Paul Holton’s 28th birthday. The celebration will be big tonight.”

Ted Giovanis - "What a day to cap off a great season! Hats off to Hugh for suggesting we switch drivers to aim for the Bronze championship, which evolved into an overall win. I’m thrilled to take the Bronze race win while highlighting #DrivingResearch and our cancer work. A great day for Team TGM, the drivers, and my co-driver Hugh all year."

Hugh Plumb - "Three more championships—manufacturer, driver, team—on top of the Bronze Cup! This team came alive from day one and kept improving. Paul Holton stepped up to help Matt secure the driver’s championship. Ted Giovanis inspires us as a team owner, driver, and friend. Huge win for Team TGM and Ted and Kristina!"

Matt Plumb - "Winning all three championships—Bronze Cup, team, and driver—is a perfect season for Team TGM. We controlled everything we could and overcame what we couldn’t. The crew gave us a car capable of top-five finishes every weekend. I’m grateful to the Giovanis for trusting Paul and me to deliver, and we did!"

Paul Holton - "Finishing second today sealed Matt’s championship, my third-place finish, and a team sweep for the year. Thanks to Ted, Kristina, Hugh, and Matt for bringing me on and to the entire crew for giving us a rocketship all season. This championship belongs to the whole team. Tonight’s banquet will be one to celebrate!"

LIFE LESSONS FROM RACING

FOCUS FORWARD

Life comes at you fast when you’re traveling 180 miles per hour. For Ted Giovanis, it’s also where you can learn the most valuable lessons. Since becoming a race car driver three decades ago at age forty-six—a ride that is still in overdrive—Giovanis has discovered how the tools of racing and the teamwork within it are applicable to life and business. In forty-eight motivating and, at times, exhilarating chapters, he shares his experience and knowledge.
