BRASELTON, GA (Wednesday, August 21, 2024) – Team TGM always looks forward to their annual return to beautiful VIRginia International Raceway, one of the circuits the team considers a home-track with team owner Ted Giovanis hailing from neighboring Maryland and the team’s headquarters just seven hours south in Northeast Georgia.

Coming off the recent race at Road America, where Giovanis and co-driver Hugh Plumb clinched the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Bronze Championship, the team now turns laser focus on the overall Driver and Team Championships, which Matt Plumb, in the No. 46 car, leads by 200 points.

“We were able to spend some time last week testing our Aston Martin GT4 Vantages at VIR, which went very well,” said team owner/driver Ted Giovanis.

“With Matt holding a 200-point lead in the championship, we need to center our attention on maintaining or, better yet, extending the points cushion for him and the 46 car."

Virginia International Raceway (VIR) opened in 1957 and quickly became a significant venue in American motorsports, hosting various races, including the first IMSA event in 1971, which marked the beginning of a long association with the track.

However, VIR closed in 1974 and remained dormant for over two decades until it was revitalized and reopened in 2000. IMSA returned to the track in 2012, reestablishing VIR as a key location in the modern IMSA racing calendar.

The race weekend will kick off with Friday’s first one-hour practice at 10:25 am.

Ted Giovanis - “With three races left, every finish matters. Recent testing at VIR has us well-prepared, and with Matt and Paul pushing for every point, the home-field advantage gives us a strong shot at success.”

Hugh Plumb - “We’re taking it one race at a time. After clinching the Bronze championship at Road America, our focus now is on the overall drivers’ and team championships.”

Matt Plumb - “Road America wasn’t ideal, but successful testing at VIR has us feeling positive. With three races to go, the championship is still within reach, and we’re fully prepared to give it everything.”

Paul Holton - “It’s crunch time for 2024. Matt holds the championship lead, and with the 64 car’s success, Team TGM is fully focused on the GS championship. After a strong test at VIR, I’m confident we’ll be fighting at the front this weekend.”

LIFE LESSONS FROM RACING

FOCUS FORWARD

Life comes at you fast when you’re traveling 180 miles per hour. For Ted Giovanis, it’s also where you can learn the most valuable lessons. Since becoming a race car driver three decades ago at age forty-six—a ride that is still in overdrive—Giovanis has discovered how the tools of racing and the teamwork within it are applicable to life and business. In forty-eight motivating and, at times, exhilarating chapters, he shares his experience and knowledge.
