BRASELTON, GA (Wednesday, June 5, 2024) – Team TGM is set to bring the team’s championship lead to Mid Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend as the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge prepares for the season’s second major four-hour endurance race.

The championship has traditionally opened its season with a four-hour race at Daytona International Speedway, but for the 2024 season, a second four-hour event has been added to the schedule, with the championship headlining the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course event this weekend.

Ted Giovanis, Paul Holton, Matt, and Hugh Plumb enter the weekend well-prepared after a recent test at the 2.2-mile, 13-turn road course aboard the team’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4 machines. Additionally, Kris Wilson will be joining the driver lineup in the No. 64 car as he did at Daytona.

Opened in 1962, the circuit is renowned as the most competitive in the U.S., but the TGM squad hasn’t always been fortunate at the venue.

“We finished sixth here in 2022 with a lot of luck and really good pit strategy,” said TGM team owner and driver Ted Giovanis.

“It was our first top-ten finish in several years, otherwise, we’ve been really unlucky at this circuit.

“The odd thing is that Hugh, Matt, and I really enjoy this circuit. It’s fun to drive, it’s very challenging, and offers up great racing. We just haven’t had the good finishes to go with it.

“We’re hoping for our best results yet at Mid Ohio this weekend. It’s a 4-hour race which the team always excels at, and we’ve really dialed in the Aston Martins. We’re also bringing in two championship leads to Ohio so that’s very motivating.”

Ted Giovanis

“The last time we raced at Mid Ohio, it was with a different manufacturer, and now we’re excited to bring the Aston Martins to the track. We have been so strong for the first three races and are leading the Driver’s, Team, and Bronze Cup championships. The team has been more consistent than ever, and we realize that consistency will win the championships. We want to keep our great momentum rolling as we have a busy schedule coming up. We’re happy to be welcoming back Kris Wilson as the third driver on the No 64. He did a great job for us in Daytona and I have no doubt he will again on Sunday.”

Hugh Plumb

“Mid Ohio holds a bit of a special place in my heart. My first professional win was here and that was pretty amazing! Ted helped seal up his International GT Championship with a win here in 2020. Mid Ohio has a new track surface, which will for sure make things interesting. Four hours worth of racing and being the Sunday feature race will be great for the teams and fans. TGM and all of its personnel have struck a cord and are doing a lot of things really well. We are all hungry for a win and to stay ahead in the championships.”

Matt Plumb

“It’s great to be heading into the fourth of ten races with the championship points lead, everyone would want to be in this position. However, we know it’s our position after race ten that matters. We have a 30-point lead in the championship and will continue to focus on podium finishes but it would be nice to get our first race win of the year. Mid-Ohio is a great, technical track, and we were on the podium at the last four-hour race. We always look forward to these longer races, the team is great at strategy and pit stops – that will be key on Sunday.”

Paul Holton

“I’m excited to be headed into my first four hour endurance race with Team TGM! Mid Ohio was repaved since IMSA was last here, and they’ve done a phenomenal job. The surface is billiard table smooth and has shown very little tire degradation in testing. This could open up some interesting strategies for the race, with a double stint on tires realistically advantageous for a GT4 car for the first time in my memory. The TGM team is always on top of our strategy, so I expect Matt and I to be there at the end fighting to keep Matt in the championship lead.”
