BRASELTON, GA (Wednesday, June 21, 2023) – Team TGM is looking to use lessons learned from its test at Watkins Glen International to good use when the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series returns to the classic New York road course this weekend.

The team will run No.64 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 with team owner/driver Ted Giovanis and Owen Trinkler and No.46 with Hugh and Matt Plumb – tackling the 3.450 mile, 11-turn circuit.

Last year at this venue, team owner Ted Giovanis celebrated his 100th race start in the championship – this year (after a challenging weekend in Detroit), the team is looking to celebrate with a podium at “The Glen.”

“Between the penalty for one car and mine being hit and taken out of the race early on, we couldn’t get out of Detroit quickly enough,” said Team TGM owner and driver Ted Giovanis.

“All four of us really enjoy Watkins Glen. I think it fits my driving style well and our testing was successful so everyone on the team is looking to reset our season and we think Watkins Glen will give us that opportunity.

“We’re going into the busiest part of the season with races almost every two weeks so this is the perfect time to reset and see both cars on the podium.”

Ted Giovanis

“We are really excited about returning to Watkins Glen. With the “boot” the track is 3.5 miles and is on the longer side of the places we race, which is good for the Aston Martins. It’s such a dichotomy coming from Detroit where you’re surrounded by walls to this long sweeping track. It’s been challenging with new cars this season, but I really enjoy racing the Aston Martin Vantage. After the good test, the entire team is motivated to be back on track this weekend.”

Owen Trinkler

“The team has done a great job coming off Detroit, into a test and now race weekend – all in two and a half weeks. We feel good about what we have going into the race this weekend. As always, the BOP (Balance of Performance) perimeters will determine the competitiveness of the Vantage. The style of this track will be good for Ted, and after not even getting in the car at Detroit, I’m more than ready to get behind the wheel.”

Hugh Plumb

“It looks like it might be a bit soggy at Watkins Glen this weekend, to make things more exciting at an already exciting place. I really like this race track and the racing it provides, there is always a lot going on, to say the least. Team TGM is primed for a good result and clean finishes. We’re hoping the testing we did here will generate strong performances for both cars.”

Matt Plumb

“Although it’s not my home track per se – Lime Rock will always be that – I really like racing at Watkins Glen. There isn’t a track on the schedule that I don’t enjoy driving, for different reasons. After testing, we all seem to agree that Watkins should suit the Aston Martin well. This team has been on a rollercoaster ride this year, but we are all very optimistic, we have been making great strides in developing and understanding the car and feel that with the tracks ahead of us, we’re heading in the right direction.”

FOCUS FORWARD: Life lessons from racing

Life comes at you fast when you’re traveling 180 miles per hour. For Ted Giovanis, it’s also where you can learn the most valuable lessons. Since becoming a race car driver three decades ago at age forty-six—a ride that is still in overdrive—Giovanis has discovered how the tools of racing and the teamwork within it are applicable to life and business. In forty-eight motivating and, at times, exhilarating chapters, he shares his experience and knowledge.
