BRASELTON, GA (Wednesday, July 31, 2024) – Team TGM will continue its championship charge this weekend at Road America in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge with one title within reach in round seven this Saturday.

This weekend’s battle will be staged on the longest circuit on the schedule – 4.048 miles at the beautiful Road America – renowned as “America’s National Park of Speed.”

For Team TGM, this week’s two-hour race could cap off one of the team’s primary goals for the season: clinching the Bronze Cup Championship.

Team owner/driver Ted Giovanis and co-driver Hugh Plumb hold a sizable 1310-point lead in the championship.

With a maximum of 350 points available for each race and four races remaining in the championship, simply finishing the race at Road America will clinch the championship win for Giovanis and Plumb.

“We can almost touch the Bronze Cup championship from here. We don’t need to win; we don’t even need to podium. However, we do have to finish the race, and that has its own challenges at a place like Road America,” said Giovanis.

“Certainly, we are not lowering our expectations, and a podium finish is our mission going into every race weekend. However we know the finish is key to clinching the Bronze Cup.

“With the long lap distance at Road America, pit stop strategy will be pivotal, and we have the best in the business at Team TGM in Joe Varde and John Terry. The entire team is performing at the next level.”

In the overall Driver’s Championship, Matt Plumb holds a 300-point lead over his co-driver, Paul Holton in second, while Paul leads third place by 30 points. Team TGM holds the same 330 lead in the Team Championship over second place.

The race weekend will kick off with Friday’s first one-hour practice.

Ted Giovanis

“This track was not kind to us last year. Hugh and Matt (Plumb) were paired in the No. 46, and they suffered a DNF, while we struggled in the No. 64, getting a 14th-place finish. We’re looking to turn that tide and continue on the super strong run we’ve been on in 2024.
“We have the Aston Martin Vantages well sorted, we’ve been driving consistently, and the pit stops have been second to none. Everyone on the team will do everything they can to ensure we will be celebrating the Bronze Cup Championship on Saturday afternoon.”

Hugh Plumb

“What’s not to like about going to Elkhart Lake? It’s a beautiful part of the world, cheese curds, and a fast racetrack. We had a great test before this event, so I believe we are prepared. Ted is and will continue to do a great job, so my hats off to him in the #64.
“Paul and Matt continue to do what they need to in the # 46 car, but there is lots of racing ahead of us. It’s an extra special weekend as it is our very own Kristina Giovanis’s birthday!!!”

Matt Plumb

“Our goals for the No. 46 Aston Martin don’t change this week. We want another win for the season, and we think Road America can be the place to get it. It is a special place where I have had a lot of success in the past, so expectations are high!
“However, this weekend, helping Ted and Hugh clinch the Bronze Cup Championship is an equally important goal. We’ve had our eyes on three main goals since Daytona: the Bronze Cup, Driver, and Team Championships. This weekend, we can tick off that important first box.”

Paul Holton

“We are getting into the heavy part of the season now, but we must keep executing as we have been. The team is doing an amazing job. We had a great test here last week with both cars, and it went really well.
“This week, the #64 can wrap up their championship, so things are starting to slide into place. We have a lot to do these next four races but the same focus: wins, podiums, and championships.”
