• Team TGM enters IMSA Porsche Carrera Cup North America for inaugural season
  • Team owner/driver Ted Giovanis will compete in the Pro Am 991 category
  • Contending U.S. rounds of the 2021 Championship

ATLANTA, GA (Monday, March 8, 2021) – After a successful debut in the IMSA Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona racing a Porsche GT3 R, Team TGM will enter team owner and driver Ted Giovanis in the IMSA Porsche Carrera Cup North America series.

Porsche Carrera Cup North America is one of the preeminent one-make racing series in the world and will launch as part of the upcoming Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring event weekend.

Giovanis will contest the majority of the 2021 scheduled events in the United States, missing the two Canadian races due to schedule conflicts.

The Porsche Carrera Cup North America series will use the latest generation 911 GT3 Cup 4-liter cars starting at Sebring on March 17-19. There will be two 45-minute races on Thursday, March 18 at 5:30 pm and Friday, March 19 at 10:10 am prior to Team TGM’s two-hour Michelin Pilot Challenge race on Friday afternoon, where the team will race two Chevy Camaros in their continued season-long assault on the Michelin Pilot Challenge Championship.

“This is an opportunity for me to continue to compete in a Porsche in IMSA competition which I also race in International GT events,” said Giovanis, the 2020 International GT Mission Foods GT3 Cup Champion.

“In addition, it gives me extended track time at Sebring before we race in the Michelin Pilot Challenge race. While Sebring is a great track, it’s also very physically challenging, and the better I know the terrain of the circuit, the better to help me turn quicker times.

“The Porsche is a car that I enjoy driving, and I like the idea of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America single-make racing. It’s a unique challenge for drivers to navigate heavy race traffic in similar cars and handle the bumps that Sebring is famous for.

“I look forward to racing in the Carrera Cup and bringing more hands-on experience which can benefit the entire team.”

The Porsche Carrera Cup North America races can be followed on IMSA.com, with live radio coverage and timing and scoring. The first practice session is slated for Wednesday, March 17, at 3 pm.
