BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA (Saturday, July 2, 2022) – As the country celebrated Canada Day on July 1, the IMSA competitors celebrated the return to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park after a two-year hiatus.

Team TGM enjoyed one of their best qualifying days of the season with both cars turning in great lap times. Team owner and driver, Ted Giovanis posted his best qualifying of the season – turning in a lap that has him starting in the eighth row on the grid for tomorrow’s Canadian Tire Motorsports Park 120. Giovanis will start the race before handing over to Owen Trinkler

Giovanis said, “The qualifying went well.  I followed Hugh out and started pacing with the field. At the end of the session, I turned my fastest laps of the weekend, so it’s looking pretty good. I had to miss CTMP in 2019 after an incident in the first practice ended my weekend. But like most drivers, we really like this place and the challenge of the course. It’s fast, it’s tight, it’s a place you have to get right on every lap.”

Hugh Plumb #46 posted a very strong sixth place qualifying and will start in the third row for tomorrow’s race.  The team is very optimistic for a double top 10 finish in the race alongside his brother Matt PLumb.

The Michelin Pilot Challenge race kicks off Saturday at 4 p.m. on Peacock and IMSA Radio.

“We’re looking for a big result this weekend. We love going back to Mosport it’s fast flowing and we love the Canadian fans!  We missed out on a potential podium finish last weekend where the racing gods were not in our favor. It is for sure our turn and we will work hard for it.”

Life comes at you fast when you’re traveling 180 miles per hour. For Ted Giovanis, it’s also where you can learn the most valuable lessons.
