BRASELTON, GA  (Wednesday, July 5, 2023) – After using the rain and strategy to their advantage at Watkins Glen International just ten days ago, Ted Giovanis and Team TGM have their sights on repeating their performance this weekend in Canada at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The single Canadian stop on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship calendar, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (formerly known as Mosport), is the track with the highest average speed of any circuit on the calendar.

This will be the first race here for the team’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4 entries which they debuted earlier this season at Daytona.

“We knew this stretch of the schedule was going to be challenging”, said Ted Giovanis, Team TGM owner and driver of the No. 64 Aston Martin, which he co-drives with Owen Trinkler.

“The crew did an amazing job turning the cars around and getting ready for the trip to Canada.

“We had a fairly disappointing race here last year, but we are getting more familiar with the Aston Martin Vantage and are very optimistic about the upcoming race.”

The second Team TGM car No. 46 is shared by brothers Hugh and Matt Plumb.

”We had a really good run at Watkins Glen, and we’re taking that momentum into this weekend’s race. We sorted out some things on the cars and found a good setup with testing. We’re in the middle of running at three super fast traditional tracks with Watkins Glen, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, and then Road America – our goal is to keep this momentum rolling.”

Owen Trinkler

“I think we made some good strides at Watkins Glen, and it certainly showed in our overall performance. Ted did a great job driving in the rain, and we’ll take all that knowledge to Canada. I love this place and have won here before, so I’m really looking forward to seeing how the Aston Martin feels around here.”

Hugh Plumb

“We want to pick up on where we left off at Watkins Glen International. I feel like we have a better understanding of this Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and it’s beginning to show. I’m always excited and proud to head to Canada with TGM.”

Matt Plumb

“Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is a very technical and challenging course. It’s one that brings out the best in a driver when you get it correct. The opposite is also true, there are several of the technical turns that can catch you out. But overall, these high-speed circuits are very rewarding when you get them right.”
