BRASELTON, GA (Monday, January 15, 2024) – Team TGM enters the 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Championship with a revamped driver line-up of Hugh Plumb and Ted Giovanis aboard the team’s No.64 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and Matt Plumb and Owen Trinkler driving the No.46.

The new line-up will debut at Daytona for the Roar Before The 24, January 19-21, 2024, followed by the season-opening race, the BMW M Endurance Challenge at Daytona, January 26, 2024.

Previously, the two Plumb brothers were paired together aboard the No.46 and Trinkler was co-driving with team boss, Giovanis.

“While we will stay with the same four primary team drivers for the full 2024 season, we will change the line-up,” said team owner/driver Ted Giovanis.

“Additionally, we have asked sports car racing veteran, Kris Wilson to join the team as a fifth driver for the 4-hour competitions at Daytona and Mid Ohio Sports Car Course.

“The change is a very strategic one for Team TGM, which we have been considering for a while. Sometimes, teams need to shake things up a bit to infuse a freshness in the make-up of the team.

“We also have some changes in the crew and job assignments for 2024. This driver line-up change is just one of several that we feel gives Team TGM the best opportunity for podium finishes and to take a run for the championship.

“The IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series is super competitive and 2024 looks to be the most challenging season yet. We gave great consideration to all the Team TGM changes and we’re all looking forward to the coming season.

“We have a year under our belts competing in the Aston Martin Vantage GT4, and we feel very comfortable with the racing platform the Aston Martins provide,” Giovanis said.

“We’ve learned and developed the race cars and are very excited going into the 2024 racing season.

“Daytona is one of two four-hour races in the 2024 championship. All of us really like the Daytona circuit and have had great success in the past.”

“This is one of the team’s biggest announcements in several years. The driver line-up change gives us a great opportunity to score a championship win in 2024 and puts us in the best position for multiple podium finishes. Matt (Plumb) and Owen (Trinkler) are both very strong, fast drivers who individually have many podiums and wins over the years, putting them in a good position for top three finishes every race. I’m really looking forward to racing with Hugh (Plumb) this season. I have not shared a car with him in IMSA; however, we have co-driven in the International GT championship. I appreciate his methodical and precise race craft and his approach to driving and competition.”

“There have been several changes in the structure of the team during the off season and I am responsible for a larger dual role as driver and being involved in team management. Ted (Giovanis) and I always enjoyed racing together in International GT and we both look forward to pairing in IMSA competition. Together with the reconfiguration of the driver line-up, we have implemented other role changes within Team TGM which will put us in the strongest position possible for success in 2024 and beyond. Our focus is on podium finishes with both cars and that consistency will pay off in the championship points as well.”

Owen Trinkler

“I’m very happy to be racing with Matt (Plumb) this season. Matt and I haven’t raced together before, but I have always appreciated his driving style, and I think we are well-matched to co-drive together. Daytona is one of my favorite places to race, and I’ve always liked the longer 4-hour format as it gives us more opportunity to strategize and make changes throughout the race. It’s been a few years since Team TGM won a championship, and the team’s changes should put us in a good position to repeat. We know consistency will be the key, and we’ve been able to get familiar with and develop the Aston Martin Vantage this past season, which gives us the best opportunity for consistent finishes.”

Matt Plumb

“Racing with my brother has been a real highlight in my career and I appreciate the opportunity Ted and Kristina (Giovanis) gave us to do it. I’m excited to have a new challenge and partner with Owen (Trinkler). I think this change brings a new focus to the team and provides a great opportunity for both the No. 64 and 46 cars. 2023 was a big year for Ted, with his second book, Focus Forward, being released in November and the dedication of the Giovanis Institute for Translational Cell Biology part of Johns Hopkins Medicine. While racing remains at the core of Team TGM, obviously, Ted has not slowed in any part of life – the rest of us just try to keep up.”
