Team TGM unveils #HealthInnovation – Better Health Through Innovation

Team TGM unveils #HealthInnovation – Better Health Through Innovation
BRASELTON, GA (TUESDAY, JANUARY 5, 2021)  – In its return to the track in 2021, Team TGM will be racing to showcase the efforts of the Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis Foundation for Health and Policy.  The Foundation funds innovative, emerging medical research and supports studies that rethink health care quality and uses for real-world evidence.

Away from the track, Team TGM driver and team owner Ted Giovanis is a “driving force” for medical research as Founder and President of the JKTG Foundation. Giovanis has enjoyed a four-decade career in health policy development and government relations, and healthcare organizations’ management.

Giovanis and Team TGM will return to the track in 2021 after stepping away in 2020 to focus on the JKTG Foundation’s work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Team TGM will chase the Michelin Pilot Challenge GS championship in 2021 with a pair of Chevrolet Camaros driven by Hugh and Matt Plumb, with Owen Trinkler joining Giovanis behind the wheel.

All four drivers will contest the 2021 Rolex 24 at Daytona with Team TGM as the Atlanta-based squad makes its debut in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with a Porsche GT3 R.

“For some time we’ve wanted to create a closer link between our race team and the Foundation as a way of bringing a spotlight to the wonderful medical research being supported by the JKTG Foundation,” said Ted Giovanis.

“We know that our racing is seen by hundreds of thousands of people throughout the year and around the world – what better platform for shining a light on the innovations being produced by the medical teams supported by the Foundation.

“It is this connection that led Team TGM to create a tag line and hashtag that would be a conversation starter with fans at the track. Although the Foundation’s interests are multi-tiered, at the end of the day, the tagline is a good representation of the Foundation’s mission and sums up its overall efforts.”

The tagline “Better Health Through Innovation” will be accompanied by the hashtag #HealthInnovation and highlighted on all three Team TGM race cars at the season-opening IMSA event at Daytona, starting with the Roar Before The 24, January 22-25, 2021.

“It’s important to remember that while the world’s attention has justifiably been on COVID, the Foundation has continued its support of innovative cancer research and evaluating vaccine development, challenges continue for many people dealing with non-COVID health issues,” Giovanis said.

“In 2020, JKTG Foundation’s work focused on rethinking health care quality and supporting cancer research, particularly in the area of breast cancer metastasis.

“We want to bring attention to the JKTG Foundation through our racing efforts. We’ve added #HealthInnovation on the rear wings of our Porsche and Camaros and we want to share this message with the fans at the track, those watching on TV and following us on social media.”
